DiscScout privacy policy
Effective 5 November 2026. This policy covers the DiscScout iPhone and Apple Watch app. The website has a separate policy.
Who is responsible
DiscScout is published by SGWNI, which is responsible for the app's data. Contact hello@discscout.app.
What stays on your devices and in your iCloud
Your discs, bags and throws are stored on your devices and synced through your own iCloud account, in the app's private CloudKit database. Preferences sync through iCloud key-value storage. Disc photos sync too. The studio cannot read your iCloud data.
When you record throws on Apple Watch, the session is saved to Apple Health as a disc sports workout, if you allow Health access. Health data stays in Health unless you export it.
What leaves your device
- TelemetryDeck receives anonymous usage signals: that the app opened, which screens were used and counts of actions. TelemetryDeck also records the platform and device model. It is used to see which features work. It does not receive your bag, disc names, throw distances or an advertising identifier.
- RevenueCat manages purchases. It receives an app-generated identifier and the purchase status needed to give access to what you bought. Payment details are handled by Apple, not by RevenueCat or the studio.
- Apple Weather provides the live wind speed and direction shown in the throw planner. The app sends a location for that forecast.
- Google Maps Elevation API receives the coordinates of the two points you mark for a planned throw, to return the elevation difference. No other information is sent.
What the app does not do
There is no DiscScout account, no advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites. The app does not sell data.
Keeping and deleting data
Your data stays in your iCloud account until you delete it. Deleting the app does not delete the iCloud copy; use Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage to remove it, or delete individual discs, bags and throws in the app. Usage signals are kept by TelemetryDeck in aggregate and are not linked to your identity.
Children
DiscScout is a sports tool, not directed at children under 13. It asks for no name, email address or account.
Changes
If the app starts using a new service, this page will name it before the version that adds it is released. The effective date at the top changes when the policy does.
